In 2008 I was brought on to doctor, and by doctor I mean “give aid to,” an independent feature film that was looking for distribution.
A Killing on Brighton Beach is a simple tale of three low level thugs who bite off more than they can chew when they steal a fortune in diamonds from their boss. My job was to direct a new title sequence to set this basic premise up and give it a little more zing right out of the gate.
It was the perfect excuse to do a chase scene just featuring legs. It’s kind of been a dream of mine to see if I could make it work. The idea of hiding the characters and just telling a story with one body part seemed like a fun challenge. Another goal for this particular project was to pull off a forced perspective shot I’d had in my head for some time. It turned out that A Killing on Brighton Beach was the perfect project.
